Founder Background: Eugene Joseph

Since 2003, Eugene has been running R&D and game development activities at North Side Inc., a Montreal startup focused on bringing unrestricted language-based interaction to video games.

Eugene manages natural language and Artificial Intelligence technology development. He is also the game designer for an indie title featuring English-based interaction between the player and the characters.

Prior to North Side Inc., Eugene founded and ran a company that produced visual programming and real-time simulation tools. Originally called Virtual Prototypes, the company went public in 1999, and was acquired by CAE in 2007 (it is currently called Presagis, www.presagis.com). Eugene's work in that period received signficant peer recognition with his induction in the AW&ST Hall of Fame as the Electronics Laureate for 1999, for 'causing a paradigm shift in airborne software development and flexible simulation' (http://www.aviationnow.com/conferences/lau_e1.htm). Eugene has a B.Sc. in Computer Science and holds a US Patent in visual programming.
